Jeremiah Evarts
Deputy Chairman of Phillips Auction House
A recognized expert in Modern and Post-War art, Mr. Evarts was recently appointed Deputy Chairman in the Twentieth Century and Contemporary Art Department at Phillips Auction House. Prior to that, he was Director of Di Donna Galleries, LLC in New York, advising a select group of top collectors active in the fields of European Modern and Post-War and American Post-War art. Mr. Evarts was a key contributor to their critically-acclaimed exhibitions Moondancers: Yup’ik Masks and the Surrealists (2018), The Life of Forms (2018), and Surrealism in Mexico (2019). He also arranged and oversaw the gallery’s 2018 exhibition A Passion for Collecting: Modern Works from the Pérez-Simón Collection.
Before his gallery directorship, Mr. Evarts spent fourteen years in the Impressionist and Modern Art Department at Sotheby’s in New York, concluding his career there as Senior Vice President, Head of Evening Sales. In this capacity, he oversaw marquee sales in New York and played pivotal roles in the sales of legendary collections at the auction house, including the collection of Bunny Mellon, Impressionist masterworks from the collection of Ralph C. Wilson, and the Finn Family Collection of Modernist sculpture. Under his leadership, the Evening Sale team achieved numerous auction records for artists that still stand today ranging from Auguste Rodin ($20.4 million) and Camille Pissarro ($32.1 million) to Marc Chagall ($28.5 million) and the record for a late work by Pablo Picasso ($40 million).
Christine Bourron
CEO and Founder of Pi-eX Ltd
Christine Bourron is the CEO and founder of Pi‐eX, a London based independent research company focusing on providing transparent data analysis and monthly reports highlighting the latest trends in the public auction market. Pi‐eX’s 12‐month rolling Auction Market Index (AMI) helps art collectors and investors optimize their investments by better understanding and managing risk and volatility in the fine art and luxury markets.
In 1998, Christine founded PaintingsDIRECT.com. Based in New York, the company represented more than 500 contemporary artists and was one of the first galleriesto offer art online. Christine also worked for Corporate Decisions Inc., a strategy consulting firm in Boston, US, Apple Computer in Kiev, Ukraine, and Procter & Gamble in Paris, France.
Christine has a dual MBA/MA degree from the Wharton School and The Lauder Institute, School of Arts and Sciences. She attained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in Finance from ESCP, Paris.
Christine has been a member of PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market) since 2017 and a Board member since 2019. She is often quoted in the press (The Financial Times, New York Times, The Art Newspaper, Artnews, The Art Market Monitor, Artnet, Artprice) and has recently published a peer‐reviewed article on the impact of the pandemic on the public auction market with a comparison of the Covid‐19 crisis versus the financial crisis and the 2016 crisis ( https://www.mdpi.com/2076‐0752/10/4/74).
Tash Perrin
Deputy Chairman, Christie’s
Tash Perrin serves as Deputy Chairman at Christie’s International, assisting estate, institutional and private clients through major sales globally. Prior to her current role, Ms. Perrin served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Estates, Appraisals & Valuations department and was responsible for overseeing the management of all the valuations produced by
Christie’s Americas and representing the firm at trusts and estates conferences across the United States. Since starting her career with Christie’s in 1996, Ms. Perrin has lived in both London and New York, working closely with specialists in several major collecting categories, including Impressionist, Modern, 19th Century, Post-War and Contemporary Art, as well as Wine and Old Masters.
Ms. Perrin is among Christie’s senior auctioneers, leading the American Art Evening sale for the Collection of David & Peggy Rockefeller in May 2018 for $106.9 million, and selling a T. Rex dinosaur in October 2020 for over $31 million. In 2016, Ms. Perrin was appointed head of Christie’s Auctioneering program in New York and holds a seat on the firm’s Global Auctioneering Board.
Ms. Perrin completed two terms as Co-Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Art and Collectibles Committee and is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the New York Historical Society. Ms. Perrin holds a BA Hon. degree in Art History from Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, and is a graduate of Christie's Education Modern & Contemporary Art Course in New York.
Maria Sancho-Arroyo
Sotheby’s Institute of Art
Maria is an art market professional with over 30 years’ experience in the art world. She started her career in museums – National Museum of Catalan Art, MNAC, in Barcelona and at the Louvre in Paris- then moved to Sotheby’s Auction House in London. During her time at Sotheby’s, she gained experience in all aspects of the auction world with a focus on business and client development. She has participated in numerous auctions and worked closely with Sotheby’s European offices and other market operators.
Maria is currently adjunct faculty at the Sotheby’s Institute in NYC where she teaches art
market topics for the MA in Art Business and is also faculty in the Global Online section,
specializing in International Art Markets and the Auction Business.
She has lectured on art market trends at Georgetown University (DC), Tsinghua university
(Beijing) and other institutions. Maria is fluent in Spanish, Italian, French and English and is regular contributor to the “Giornale dell’Arte”, the Italian edition of the Art newspaper. She is involved with art charitable organizations and is the co-chair of ArtTable DC chapter since June 2019.
