David Norman Fine Art LLC

David Norman began his career in 1985 as a specialist in the field of Impressionist & Modern Art at Sotheby’s. He became director of the department in 1999, a World-wide Chairman for the division in 2008, and then a Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s North American. From 2019-2022, he was Chairman of the Phillips auction house in America.

David directed sales of art works from such institutions as the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Los Angeles County Museum as well as numerous other public and private foundations. In the early 1990s, David pioneered and directed Sotheby’s first sales of 20th Century German art, staging the first international auction in the then unified city of Berlin. In 2004, David oversaw the auction of the first painting to ever break the $100 million barrier, Pablo Picasso’s Garçon a la Pipe. In 2010, he curated Sotheby’s first private selling exhibition of Modern Art in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Author, art historian, Financial Times columnist

Kejia Wu is an art historian, columnist for the Financial Times Chinese Edition and a trustee of New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. She authored The European Fine Art Foundation’s Art Market Report in 2019. Her book A Modern History of China’s Art Market (https://www.routledge.com/A-Modern-History-of-Chinas-Art-Market/Wu/p/book/9781032287973) was published in May 2023 by Routledge. Kejia was presented the Asia Art Pioneers Award by ArtReview Asia, LEAP magazine, and The Art Newspaper China Edition in 2019. She was a member of the faculty at Claremont Graduate University and Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Previously, she oversaw Asia projects and strategy at Sotheby’s in the office of the CEO while based in New York. She was co-founder of the East Modern Art Center (EMAC), the first nonprofit contemporary art center in Beijing. The art performance created at EMAC, Dancing with Farmers, was featured at the Chinese Pavilion of the 56th Venice Biennial in 2015. Kejia is a graduate of Yale University and Renmin University.

Jean-Paul Engelen possesses almost three decades of market experience in the auction and private sectors. With extensive experience working with artists of our time, Mr. Engelen was Director of Public Art and Exhibitions at Qatar Museums from 2011 – 2015. In this role Mr. Engelen was responsible for a significant public art installation program, the establishment of an Artist in Residence program and space, and Contemporary Art exhibitions. He worked with artists such as Richard Serra, Damien Hirst, Richard Serra, Shirin Neshat, and Takashi Murakami.

Prior to Qatar Museums, Jean Paul spent 16 years at Christie’s, with his last four years in the role of Senior Specialist & Director of Post-War and Contemporary Art.

Brooke M. Lampley is responsible for overseeing the global team of specialists across auction, private sales, online sales, and marketplace channels—for departments ranging from Contemporary and Modern Art, to 20th Century Design and Chinese Works of Art. In addition to directing strategy and management for the Global Fine Art team, she works regularly with the world’s leading collectors and collections as a worldwide authority in modern masterpieces. Brooke’s achievements at Sotheby’s have brought the company several record-breaking consignments and sales. Most recently, she was instrumental in bringing to market the Emily Fisher Landau Collection, a white glove evening sale that set a record for the most valuable sale devoted to a female collector in auction history. She played a pivotal role in securing the sale of the Macklowe Collection—at the time the most valuable collection ever sold at auction. Under her leadership Sotheby’s achieved $7.4 billion in total sales in 2021, an all-time record for the company.

Prior to joining Sotheby’s in January 2018, Brooke led the Impressionist and Modern Art team at Christie’s. She holds a Master of Arts degree in History of Art from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and History of Art from Harvard College. She lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.

Viktoria Prigarina started her finance career at Morgan Stanley, followed by options trading and structuring at Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank. She has lived and worked in Brazil where she created a capital raising platform for what is now a $15 billion hedge fund—SPX Capital and has served as a Member of the Investment Committee of the firm. Viktoria holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics of Finance from Columbia University and a B.B.A. with concentrations in finance and comparative literature and minor in Latin American Studies from Baruch College. Viktoria has been passionate about the arts throughout her life, has pioneered the Art Market Symposia and founded ArtCrossing.io—a forum where art market professionals and art enthusiasts come together to discuss the most pertinent topics in today’s art market.
