Art Lending & Third Party Guarantees: How Covid19 Increased (Yes Increased) The Demand for Financing
Date: Thursday, October 22, 2020
Time: 6:30 - 8:00PM ET

Over the last decade, art lending has experienced double-digit annual growth, according to Deloitte Art & Finance report.

In 2020, the demand for art lending has reached new highs. Global Covid-19 related measures were followed by sharp decreases in economic growth around the world, high market volatility, and drastic policy and macroeconomic shifts such as very low or negative interest rates and large government stimulus measures.

The resulting asset price dislocations created buying opportunities for some investors, generated demand for cash from others, and made lending against art as an asset class more attractive than selling it in this uncertain environment.

What do specialized art lenders see in their market as the result? How do the auction houses’ lower sales, diminished supply, and the rise in third-party guarantees impact art lending and the art market?

This and other topics will be discussed by an esteemed panel of art business executives.
